Kathleen Dong, Bay Area-based family law attorney, was ready to revamp her outdated website in 2021.
Kathleen’s law firm, Dong Family Law, is an established firm serving the Silicon Valley community. They have been supporting clients from their offices in San Jose for many years, but the firm’s branding did not match the care and warmth that Kathleen and her team give to the families that they work with. It was stale and lacked vibrancy. Together we breathed new life into her digital presence.
When Kathleen came to me for a new website design and logo design, I asked her to send me photos of her office. I saw the colorful space where Kathleen helps families heal from divorce and separation. On the wall hangs a pop art portrait of Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Kathleen’s own computer keyboard features keys in rich shades of violet and magenta. With this inspiration, I created a color palette that is feminine, inviting and refreshing. Kathleen deserves to stand out from the sea of boring law firm branding designs.
At the heart of her business practice, Kathleen values potential and the insightful truths that arise in moments of hardship. We chose to use kintsugi, the Japanese art form of repairing broken pottery with gold filling, as the brand centerpiece of Dong Family Law. This illuminating art form is a beautiful metaphor for her compassionate approach to family law. Kintsugi imagery is used throughout her website and subtly incorporated into her new logo design.
It is important that couples and families have access to informative resources when they are going through the divorce process. Kathleen’s new website design supports families in transition with extensive information and frequently asked questions pertaining to family law and separation.
In just over one month, Dong Family Law has a brand new website and a fresh brand makeover that gives them (and their unique business approach in a contentious industry) the elevated spotlight they deserve. Creating a custom WordPress website design for Dong Family Law was a delightful experience and a potent reminder that beauty can be a powerful tool for uplifting each other with grace.
